GES student placement scheme: deadline extended

Applications for the 2023/2024 Government Economic Service (GES) and Government Social Research (GSR) Sandwich Student Placement Schemes are still open.

The application deadline has been extended.

Students must submit a full application and complete their numerical test by Monday, 24 October 2023 (11:55 am) for both schemes.

Government Economic Service (GES) Sandwich Student Placement Scheme 2023/2024

The Government Economic Service (GES) Sandwich Student Placement scheme is open to economic students considering a career as a professional economist in the Government Economic Service after graduation. The scheme is open to students in their penultimate year, doing a degree which compromises at least 50% economics and are on track for a 2:1 or 1st based on their first-year results.

The GES sandwich placement year offers an exciting opportunity to apply economic knowledge to real-world problems and develop your analytical skills whilst working on some of society’s most pressing issues. The scheme also comes with a guaranteed interview for our graduate schemes.

Government Social Research (GSR) Sandwich Student Placement Scheme 2023/2024

The Government Social Research (GSR) Sandwich Student Placements scheme is for students considering a career in the Government Social Research Profession after graduation. As a social research placement student, there will be opportunities to contribute to a range of different research products, including literature reviews and evidence summaries, dashboards, drafting surveys and questionnaires, supporting with ad-hoc analytical queries, and shadowing senior researchers.
